SHERIDAN, Wyoming – August 18, 2026 – ScaleFibre has announced the launch of an OFNP plenum-rated SlimCORE™ indoor optical fiber cable line, available in fiber counts from 12F to 288F, extending the range into the air-handling spaces of North American data centers as operators build out capacity across the region.
The OFNP rating governs cable installed in plenums, the ceiling and floor voids a building circulates its air through, where the National Electrical Code requires construction that has passed the NFPA 262 flame and smoke test. The rating applies across the new line, in single-mode G.657.A1 and multimode OM3, OM4 and OM5.
With a plenum-rated line in place, operators can specify a single SlimCORE™ family from the main distribution frame, through the plenum, to the data center floor, without changing product at the point where the fire rating changes.
The SlimCORE™ design is sub-unitised, each sub-unit a jacketed cable of 8, 12, 16 or 24 fibers, robust enough to be routed and terminated directly. The construction eliminates the breakout and fanout kits normally required to carry bare fiber as far as a connector, and lets each sub-unit run to its termination point as it is. The line spans five builds between 12F and 288F.
That construction also underpins ScaleFibre’s pre-terminated assembly work. The company builds MPO trunks on SlimCORE™ across small to ultra-high fiber count configurations in Type A, B or C polarity, with insertion loss and return loss measured on every connector before shipment. The OFNP jacket extends that assembly work into plenum spaces.

The OFNP line completes a three-jacket approach to a single cable design, allowing operators building across regions to qualify SlimCORE™ once and take the LSZH, OFNP or CPR jacket that local code requires.
